Your shadow self is a part of your subconscious that is often thought of as negative, but this is not necessarily true. Your shadow self is made up of the aspects of yourself that you perceive as dark, weak, or negative. These may be traits that you try to hide or deny, or that you project onto others.
Maybe you feel like other people are causing your problems, or that your coworkers are too self-absorbed to help you. Maybe you feel overlooked among friends, or like your partner or family members are looking down on you. But it's important to be honest with yourself: are these people really the ones who are causing your problems, or is it your own negative view of yourself that is causing these feelings? Often, what we blame others for is a reflection of how we see ourselves. Take a moment to think about what you like the least about other people. Does this characterize your shadow self? Can you think of times when you have behaved in the same way that you blame others for? This is the first step in healing your shadow self.
It's not possible to get rid of your shadow self entirely, as it is an essential part of who you are. But by understanding it and seeking help to see the bigger picture of your identity, including your past choices and the impact of your current relationships, you can become more whole and balanced.
